Alotau favours Abel

ALOTAU sitting MP Charles Abel is the hot favourite to retain his seat after taking a commanding lead with 12,853 votes for Alotau open.
Counting was suspended yesterday and will resume today with the elimination round.
Running under the People’s National Congress banner, Abel collected 1,083 votes from the Alotau urban area after count 29, the final box to be counted on Saturday night at the Cameron Secondary School.
In second place is Lisia Illaibeni on 2,396 followed by Peter Bana on 2,232.4
The last box of the primary count was finished at 6.15pm with Abel maintaining his lead which he had held since counting started last Monday.
The Milne Bay provincial count was also suspended yesterday and after count 59, sitting MP John Luke Crittin leads with 23,242.
