Am I hallucinating and hearing voices?

Health Watch

ARE you aware that we can sometimes hallucinate and hear voices without even realising it is happening to us?
The impact of this can swamp our emotions that are real and visible in our society.
We, as individuals, should not ignore these signs as they are tell tale signs in resetting ourselves in achieving the best quality of life under all circumstances.

Hallucinations
When you hallucinate, you are hearing, seeing, smelling or feeling things which are not really there.
For example, you may see visions, hear voices in your head, or feel yourself flying through the sky.
Although these experiences are not real, they seem as intense and as real as any other experience.

What causes hallucinations?
Hallucinations are usually diagnosed alongside psychotic disorders, such as dementia, bi-polar disorder (manic depression), schizophrenia, substance abuse, as well as with some personality disorders.
However, many famous people throughout history, including most of the great spiritual leaders, have heard voices or seen visions.
And many people who have recently lost a loved one or who have gone through an upsetting or traumatic experience may also hear voices or see visions, if only for a short while.

Hearing voices
Mental health experts usually define hearing voices as a sign of medical illness.
Many people who hear voices are able to live with them and may consider them a positive part of their lives.
Many people hear voices but never find them a problem or need to seek support from mental health services.
