Amazon Bay finds hope

Letters

I THANK the leaders of Magarida, in Amazon Bay LLG Area.
For the past 20 years, Magarida Station had been covered in overgrown grass which had created the perfect home for wild pigs, bandicoots, rats and snakes.
Today, all that is gone and a new Magarida has arrived.
The Government Station and the Iruna Mission, the health and education centres, are now clean.
The upgrade of the old airstrip has brought great relief and tears of joy to the people.
They can see the promise of more changes to come.
I thank the developer, Woodland PNG Ltd, and the leaders for supporting the project.
The people of Amazon Bay suffered for many years by being denied development and services, but now we can see light at the end of the tunnel and a better future for our people. Our leaders, no matter on what side they stand, should work together.
Our leaders from local level government to national government levels should try to get flights resumed between Port Moresby and Amazon Bay.
For you the developer, the trees are out there waiting to be harvested but remember to take care of our environment and have the heart to develop my beautiful Amazon Bay.

A true Landowner
