A YOUNG woman from the New Life Women’s group in Gerehu in the nation’s capital was a proud recipient of K1,000 loan from the PNG Women in Business (PNGWiB) yesterday.
Josephine Paul Ambaen was grateful for the PNGWiB for the assistance saying it would help her sustain operation of her small business of selling fish.
Ambaen was the only young female among mothers yesterday who received loans from PNGWiB and challenged other young women, who were doing nothing, to engage in small income earning activities like selling food and other items to keep them busy.
She said accessing loans from banks was impossible for them given the stringent bank policies and requirements and was happy with the initiative by PNGWIB.
Ambaen first took a loan of K500 in January and repaid in March with an interest of K175.
Yesterday was her second loan.
