Ambassador recognises veteran PNG envoy

Japanese Ambassador Satoshi Nakajima hosted a reception in Port Moresby yesterday to celebrate the conferment of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, to former PNG ambassador to Japan Michael Maue.
The award was in recognition of Maue’s outstanding contribution in promoting friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and Papua New Guinea.
Nakajima, lauded Maue’s commitment to the development of Japanese companies in Papua New Guinea and his prom otion of a better understanding of Japanese culture among the PNG people. Maue, a former foreign affairs secretary, was among 24 recipients of the award this year.
The order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star is Japan’s second highest decoration conferred to foreigners in Japan’s 2017 Fall Imperial Decoration.”
