THE new pathology laboratory commissioned recently at Angau Memorial Hospital is built to standard and contains equipment that can perform required tasks, an official says.
Morobe health authority chief executive officer Dr Kipas Binga said some functions remained in the old lab.
“As time goes, we will move some of those functions there (in the old lab) to the new one and finally, we will have all functions coming out from the new lab,” he said.
Dr Binga said at the moment, some functions such as microbiology vacuum had to be verified and given permission by specialists from the Health Department before they could be used at the new lab. “The specialists had to come and verify if these are all good and safe before use,” he said.
Dr Binga said transfers from the old lab would be done bit-by-bit until all functions were moved and carried out at the new facility.
