ANGLICARE Papua New Guinea Incorporated has given three individuals seed capital to start small businesses.
Under its “Kisim na givim” (KnG) programme, the non-government organisation supplied textile and poultry products to Gabriel Mandome, Timothy Kiruai and Julie Kipoi at a presentation on Friday.
The three also received certificates from the PNG Office of Cooperatives Societies.
Anglicare PNG national director Heni Meke thanked the Sir Brian Bell Foundation for another K200,000 support this year apart from the K200,000 and K250,000 given in 2016 and 2017 and the Indian Association for its K10,000 support this year.
Meke said the programme, which started in 2017, was about empowering people to be financially independent.
So far, 12 people had benefited from the programme.
“KnG programme has given people opportunity through providing seed capital through items purchased for them to start-up with informal markets, income generating businesses and agricultural activities in the community,” Meke said.
