A COMMUNITY leader from Anglimp has called for his district to remain a part of Western Highlands.
Peter Puri said he did not want Anglimp district, home to about 60,000 people in 37 council wards, to become part of Jiwaka.
He said the Anglimp people spoke the same language as Western Highlanders. They also shared similar customs and traditions, shared a common border and had a 20% shareholding in the Wamp Nga company.
Puri claimed that the Anglimp locals were not consulted when setting the Jiwaka boundary.
