Ank hails Kagua Erave for finishing in top spot

Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League match commissioner Francis Ank has congratulated Kagua Erave for securing top spot in the Highlands Conference.
Kagua Erave beat Blue Kumuls 1-0 in the final match of the regular season at the National Sports Institute in Goroka on Saturday.
They finished the season on 24 points, with Blue Kumuls locking in second spot (16).
The Southern Highlands team is sponsored by Kagua Erave MP Wesley Raminai.
The club is coach by former national striker Steven Mune.
Ank said Kagua Erave had shown that they were a competitive side.
“I also congratulate Kumuls and their coach Andrew Apo,” Ank said.
“Kagua Erave finished the season eight points ahead of their closest rivals.”
He thanked the six clubs — Kagua Erave, Blue Kumuls, Mt Hagen (16), Aporro Mai (12), Enga Laima (10) and Simbu Angra (6) — for remaining committed over the last 10 weeks.
“Our Highlands competition ended on a good note without any interruptions and major issues,” Ank said.
“Officials and teams travelled the Highlands Highway without any incidents. We wish every club the best and we hope to see them next season.”
Mune said Kagua Erave were preparing for the playoffs.
“I told my players to have a one-week break before they return to training,” he said.
“We thank MP Raminai for contributing to help make this club’s rookie season a successful.”
