ANZ names new members of board

ANZ yesterday announced the appointment of Lady Winifred Kamit and Leon Buskens as non-executive independent directors to the ANZ Papua New Guinea (ANZ PNG) board of directors effective from Feb 2, 2012. 
ANZ PNG board chairman and CEO Pacific Michael Rowland said: “I am delighted that Lady Winifred and Leon have agreed to join the Board. 
“They are two of Papua New Guinea’s most respected business leaders and we are pleased to have them join our board.
ANZ PNG managing director and chief execu­tive Vishnu Mohan added: “ANZ is committed to investing in our business in Papua New Guinea.
“(Lady) Winifred and (Mr) Buskens bring additional expertise and experience to the governance of ANZ’s business and strategic advice and insight to support our future success.”
Further details on the two appointed directors are as follows:
g    Kamit is currently an independent board director at Newcrest Mining Ltd and has held board directorships for New Britain Palm Oil Ltd, Lihir Gold Ltd, South Pacific Post Ltd and Steamships Trading Company Ltd.
She is also involved with several non-profit organisations in PNG.
Her experience includes senior partner with Gadens Lawyers Port Moresby, commissioner with the Public Services Commission of PNG, and executive officer for the Ombudsman Commission.
g    Buskens had significant business experience and was one of PNG’s most experienced company directors.
Buskens was currently an independent director on the Telikom PNG board and most recently he was chief executive of Nambawan Super.
He also held board director positions with Brian Bell Ltd, SP Brewery Ltd, Alotau International Hotel, Credit Corporation Ltd and Kumul Hotels.
