Minister for Lands and Physical Planning Justin Tkatchenko described PNG’s chance to host the Apec Summit as a rare opportunity to showcase what the country is really like.
He said that in November, the world would be watching PNG when global leaders arrive for the summit.
“Hosting Apec is about exposing to 21 Apec member countries how good we are and how we can get help from them,” he said.
Tkatchenko said the senior officials’ meetings which started in Port Moresby two weeks ago and would continue in the lead-up to the summit were very important.
“We have a lot of organically grown cash crops and food crops that everyone wants to have, we need to solicit help from Apec economies to advance in this area,” he said.
Eastern Highlands Governor Peter Numu and local MPs are uniting to accept an Apec meeting in Goroka.
