A STATE agency will hold a forum for Apec on the financial inclusion policy, according to its director.
The Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion will support and organise the financial-inclusion policy forum, said director Saliya Ranasinghe.
“On behalf of the host economy, the CEFI and Bank of PNG are coordinating this two-day policy seminar that will be held in Kokopo, East New Britain on June 5 and 6,” Ranasinghe said.
The theme of the forum is “financial capability, education and technology”. The forum will include presentations from Apec economy speakers.
“While PNG as the host country is raising awareness on the importance of the digital economy, it is also increasingly clear that Apec economies have much to learn from one another in this area.” The outcomes of the two-day forum will be presented to the Apec Finance Ministers Meeting in October 2018.
“Prior to that, outcomes will be reported to the Apec Finance and Central Bank Deputies meeting in June”
