PARLIAMENT is yet to confirm the provinces that will host Apec meetings next year, says joint security taskforce coordination manager Jerry Geno.
Geno led a team of representatives to Madang yesterday after attending preparatory Apec meeting in Port Moresby.
He said Madang was considered one of the venues but that was yet to be decided by Cabinet.
“Madang is one of the venues, so is Kokopo, Goroka, Lae and Kavieng. I cannot elaborate further until the programme is officially released,” Geno said.
“As soon as the Cabinet releases the venues of the meetings, they will make that known to the public and stakeholders to prepare.”
Geno said 21 countries were represented in Port Moresby.
“The purpose of the meeting was to put forward policy agendas for Apec for 2018 for the representatives of the 21 countries to come and see,” he
said.
“For the last two days we conducted the meeting and it ended successfully and Port Moresby is not PNG so we decided to bring them out to see what PNG is,” Geno said.
The delegation was entertained by singsing groups from Madang, East Sepik and Easter Highlands at the Madang Resort’s Forum Park arranged by hotel owner Sir Peter Barter.
