THE government must keep the outcomes-based education curriculum but modify it, Dr Eliakim Apelis says.
The assistant secretary of curriculum development and assessment division said the OBE system worked well in schools and all that was needed was developing it into a better system.
“Examination results have shown that students have performed well in the OBE curriculum and that should be maintained,” he said during the opening of the Treid Pacific Publishing House on Thursday.
“We must not blame the curriculum but must improve it.”
He said although OBE was not a pure version, it must be developed
into a better system.
He said the opening of the publishing house would effectively enhance the learning system in the country as textbooks and other resource materials for schools would be written and published within the country.
Publishing manager Kwapena Makara said Treid Pacific was a partner in education development in the country that had contributed enormously to the publication of school materials.
He said educational materials would be produced and published in the new Treid Pacific Publishing House.
He said a well-organised team of experienced teachers had been engaged to write resource materials for schools.
