AIRLINES PNG has initiated some changes within the commercial division of the company.

Effective this month, the charter and regular passenger transport (RPT) divisions of the company will be combined under the divisional management position of chief commercial officer – reporting directly to the chief executive officer.

Chief executive Muralee Siva said: “I am pleased to advise that our present manager RPT services Paul Abbot, who joined Airlines PNG two-and-half years ago, has accepted the appointment as chief commercial officer.

“Paul has extensive airline experience with Air New Zealand in a variety of senior sales and marketing roles and during his time with Airlines PNG, has been instrumental in launching a number of new routes to better serve the market needs and has introduced initiatives to further improve the customer experience with the airline.”

He said the airline was very focused on delivering a competitive offering to the people of PNG and the merging of these areas of the business would help ensure efficient operation and delivery of air services whether they were charter, corporate or private travel.

“In addition to the airlines commitment in 2013 to improving on time performance, enhancing network design and customer service we are focused on improving our product offering and ensuring the people of PNG have a real choice when it comes to airline travel,” Siva said.
