Apology over budget delay

THE people of Raicoast in Madang have apologised to Governor Peter Yama for delaying the passing of the province’s budget of more than K163 million.
“On behalf of the people of Raicoast, I want to apologise for the constraints we put you through which delayed the processes of passing the provincial government budget,” Raicoast LLG president Yabi Asime said during the provincial assembly meeting on Tuesday.
He was referring to a court case filed by former Raicoast MP and governor James Yali against Yama which led to his arrest last week.
Asime said Yali was from Raicoast but the court action was his own decision.
Yama accepted the apology and said if police would arrest small people, there was no reason they should not do the same to him.
“No one is above the law and the Constitution of this country,” he said.
