Aporro out to continue good recent form against Hagen

KUTUBU’s Aporro Mai are hanging on to fourth spot in the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League’s Highlands Conference but coach Matthew Witu, pictured, says they will make the playoffs.
Aporro, who play Mt Hagen tomorrow, beat Blue Kumuls 2-1 last round and that was after they shocked leaders Kagua Erave 1-0.
Aporro captain Samuel Kini and his troops have made the National Sports Institute in Goroka their fortress with coach Witu saying his players have not got carried away by their recent form.
“We’re not expecting much but continuing to play well and being competitive,” Witu said.
The opening match tomorrow will see the last-placed Enga Laima (4 points) take on first-placed Kagua (21).
Enga are coming off an unexpected 4-1 win over Simbu Angra.
The Engans lost to the Blue Kumuls (4-3) before that with the Laima looking build on their new found form.
The Angras face the Blue Kumuls, bin the other fixture.
