Application to stay law adjourned

A COURT reference to stay the Judicial Conduct Act has been adjourned to next month to consider applications by new interveners.
The Supreme Court reference was filed by the Morobe government.
The interveners are Sir Michael Somare, Sir Arnold Amet and the Ombudsman Commission.
Justice Don Sawong on behalf of the bench hearing the reference said all application to intervene must be filed and served by tomorrow.
The bench also allowed lawyer Rimbink Pato, representing the Morobe provincial government, to make amendments to the original reference.
Sawong said the amended reference and the applications by the interveners will be heard on April 18.
He said the reference book should be prepared and served on April 23 with interveners filing and serving their answers to the questions on the reference on April 30.
The matter will be next heard on May 3.
