Appointment a ‘boost for women’

Islands, Normal

THE appointment of Florence Stocken as New Ireland deputy governor is a victory for the women in New Ireland.
New Ireland provincial government autonomy committee chairman Stephen Mokis said the appointment was a fulfillment of New Ireland’s pursuit for greater autonomy and a promising future for the people of New Ireland.
Mr Mokis said great achievements in the last two years have included free and subsidised school fees, opening of new schools, increased allowance for village court officials, allowances for the old age and the ring road developments.
