Appointment of provincial admins

Letters

THE Department of Personal Management (DPM) is the custodian of all Government-based positions in the public sector.
It is mandated to do advertisements, recruitments, selections, retirements and retrenchments on behalf of the Government.
The provincial governors should follow procedures that have been laid down prior to their election.
All vacancies for departmental secretaries, CEOs and provincial
administrators should not be interfered with by either the governor or minister.
DPM is mandated to advertise all vacancies to give everyone a chance to apply and then allow the normal selection process to take place.
The Provincial Executive Councils (PEC) will forward to the National Executive Council (NEC) a list of shortlisted names of potential provincial administrators.
NEC deliberates and appoints the most suitable person for the position from the shortlisted names.
The Chimbu provincial administrator’s position is currently vacant. The Chimbu PEC cannot recommend to the NEC that the incumbent continues for another term. The incumbent can only act in the position until the selection process is completed.
Eastern Highlands just had its provincial administrator’s saga rectified and now Chimbu has come on board.
I value my Chimbu heritage and would like to see normalcy there?
