Appointments must be done based on merit

Letters

THE appointment of a managing director or chief executive officer in any government organisation must be done on merit.
The minister who is in charge of that organisation must not interfere in the appointment process.
Most times ministers appoint people they know, or their wantok (relative) and manipulate the established system.
The Government must now engage recruitment agents to do recruitment.

  • Foreign Recruitment Agencies overseeing all forms of recruitment for vacancies all across the Government at the National and Provincial level would directly and indirectly do us all a great favour. It will without doubt weed out corrupt practices. With performance checks done on a 6 monthly basis, that same agency, protected by law can fire anybodys under performing arse. Only foreigners can work in there. No lousy Papua New Guinean can be allowed.

But then, which retarded politician is going to take this road. They all have family ties lying somewhere within the corridors of government offices who recruit… All they will ever care about will be their pot bellies and tiny bum cheeks..

  • I truly agree with this letter – to take back PNG as we have been saying, wantok system and whom you know must be strictly done away with!!!
