Appreciate those who contributed to country

Letters

PEOPLE who have contributed to the development and progress of the country through the work of the church and bringing basic services such as health and education should be appreciated.
One such person is the former Wesleyan Church of Papua New Guinea president late Rev Yawijah Tugujah.
He was one of the many who dedicated his life to help the church to develop Waposale in Kagua-Erave, Southern Highlands, since 1974.
Rev Tugujah dedicated his life to helping the church bring about development and change to Waposale after leaving his Tokoma village in the Koroba-Kopiago (then part of Southern Highlands).
After he made his decision to adopt Western culture and Christianity, the members of his Tobani-Fugwa clan went against him, but this did not stop him.
There were some areas which the Government could not develop but the church did so to change the nation.
The Government is forgetting such people for laying down their lives for this country.
Many others have come from the coastal areas with the missionaries and lost their lives for the good of the country.
