Approving and signing of contract

Letters

IT is good news (Court rules forestry director be reinstated – The National, June 27, Page 5) for the staff of the PNGFA.
The Forestry board has once again erred in approving and signing of contract letters dated Oct 26, 2018, of which was received by contract officers last week (third week of June 2019).
The letters were signed by the Forestry board chairman.
It is clearly spelt out in the PNGFA General Orders Section 35 National Contract Employees that:
l 35.4 “Every national contract employee, shall be employed under a Contract of Employment. The term of employment of every national contract employee shall be determine by the managing director”;
l 35.5 “Where, on the expiration of a contract of employment of a national contract employee, it is desired to re-appoint that employee for a further period, re-appointment shall be by means of a further contract which has to be approved by the managing director”.
Past contracts were approved and signed by the managing director.
There were no amendments to the PNGFA general orders for the board to take on that role.
Is the Forestry board doing the right thing?
