Are we ready for coronavirus?

Letters

CAN the health secretary, health minister or prime minister tell the country about its true state of preparedness to meet the coronavirus when it arrives in PNG?
Currently, there are no quarantine isolation facilities been built; limited face masks for the general public and no stock of face masks sold in the pharmacy outlets.
Combining coronavirus patients with other sick patients in the same hospitals risks cross-infection and the spread of the virus.
There are no x-ray machine facilities at Port Moresby General Hospital to screen coronavirus patients.
There are no basic medical equipment or safety gears for health workers such as doctors and nurses who would be in the front line etc.
Coronavirus is spreading like fire in Asia and Middle East and Europe.
However, due to these countries strong health systems, they are able to contain its spread.
We have a weak health system in PNG combined with a general no care attitude of the people regarding hygiene.
These can easily contribute to the spread of the deadly virus.
