Argument leads to wife’s death

A PREGNANT woman was killed in Lae during the weekend allegedly by her husband after an argument at their home on Seventh Street, police say.
Lae metropolitan commander Chief Supt Chris Kunyanban said the woman was allegedly hit by her husband after a domestic argument which resulted in damage to her spleen. She died at the hospital.
He said the couple had argued about an issue between them.
Chief Supt Chris Kunyanban said the husband was in police custody.
In another incident, a young man was killed at Lae’s Back Road on Sunday by a drunk man using a wire catapult.
Chief Supt Chris Kunyanban said he was yet to get full details of the death and would release a report later on the incident. Meanwhile, Chief Supt Kunyanban said the daily statistics of assault had increased with six to seven cases reported daily at Lae Central police station.
Kunyanban said all forms of violence needed to be taken into consideration and reported to police as soon as possible to prevent further problems or deaths.
“If an issue arises, people must immediately report it to police and we will deal with it,” he said.
“Not just domestic violence but all forms of violence should be taken into consideration and reported.

“There are procedures to follow and police will definitely assist you in such cases.”
