Armed gang robs Waigani shop

THE Mity Meat Haus located along Waigani Drive in Port Moresby lost a substantial amount of money when armed criminals struck at around 6pm last Thursday.
According to police, five or six suspects with guns and knives arrived in a white double-cab vehicle and stormed into the shop.
They held up petrified customers and employees before looting the shop which was almost closing for the day.
A member of the gang standing outside the arcade near ANZ Waigani, fired shots towards a crowd and a passing police car, but no-one was hurt.
Alerted by gunshots, his accomplices drove out of the premises and more gunshots were fired into the air to scare away bystanders at the scene.
The gunman standing outside the arcade, hopped into the vehicle and they sped away towards the Gordon area. The succession of loud gunshots forced motorists to stop abruptly, causing confusion.
