Army’s engineering battalion hosting comp to raise fund

THE Papua New Guinea Defence Force’s engineering battalion in Igam, Lae, will host a battle of the voices competition to raise funds for the 42nd Green River dinner and parade.
Since the church service and dinner are scheduled for Aug 22 and 24 respectively followed by the parade on Sept 1, the soldiers are hosting a series of fundraising activities with their families at the barracks.
The battle of the voices has finally found three finalist choir groups and a string band, all compete on Thursday.
The choir challenge last Thursday brought together four groups, including Battalion Headquarters, Bravo, Alpha and Support companies.
Battalion commander Lt Col Bruno Malau said that from the four competing groups, a core battalion song would be selected for Thursday.
From the performances, the three selected units were Bravo Company with 295 points, Battalion Headquarters that presented two songs, the second song scored 293 points and Support unit scored 290 points.
The three were listed for the battle on Thursday.
