MOROBE police have arrested a man for allegedly misappropriating K1.4 million that was paid to his company to build a three-in-one classroom at Boana primary School in Nawaeb, in 2015.
Police files reported that during that time, a total of seven different instalments were made to the building company’s account to get the project completed.
Police commander Supt Alex N’Drasal said all funds paid into the company’s account were allegedly used up while the project was still there and incomplete.
“The matter was reported to police and registered on crime report number 586/2017 with investigations convened then,” he said.
The suspect was invited to the station, formally arrested and charged last Friday with seven counts of false pretence and seven counts of misappropriation.
The suspect was detained and is awaiting his court appearance.
A new contractor has since been engaged and completed the project at the school instead.
