Arrest warrant out for suspected abuser
THE Waigani Committal Court has issued a warrant of arrest for a man charged with sexual touching a 47-year-old woman.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar issued the orders after police prosecutor Senior Constable Peter Samghy informed court that the accused, Jacob Wemin, did not turn up in court three times.
Wemin, 31, from Kinaminakul village in Gumine, Chimbu, was accused of forcefully and unlawfully touching Louise Werake’s privates.
The alleged offence happened at about 11pm on Feb 26 at Koki Market, Port Moresby.
Werake, a vendor at the market, lodged a formal complaint with police at the Koki Police Post and Wemin was arrested, charged and detained at Badili Police Station.
Wemin bailed out from custody and attended his first mention at court on March 5, but failed to attend following mentions on April 3, May 3, May 31 and June 7.
