A fire that destroyed a family home two weeks ago at Korobosea in Port Moresby was allegedly started deliberately, Chief Fire Officer Bill Roo says.
Her said preliminary investigations revealed that the cause of the fire was a result of alleged arson by one of the disgruntled family members after a domestic argument between a brother and sister at Queens Cliff Street.
Roo said the Boroko Fire Station was notified from a call at 9.46am and responded with support from the down town fire truck.
“Strong winds that day contributed to spreading the fire which completely destroyed the high covenant house worth over a million kina,” Roo said.
“People should seriously think twice before trying to set fire to a house or building and consider the outcome of their actions and its adverse effect that will come later, he said, there are other avenues to air their frustration or grievances.”
Investigations are continuing.
