Asian influence ‘reshaping’ PNG

 THE Asian century is truly upon PNG and is reshaping the country’s future, University of PNG Vice-Chancellor Prof Albert Mellam says.

He said this during the opening of the Human Resource Institute’s national conference in Port Moresby on Monday.

Mellam said PNG was no longer an island but part of a global community and “we live in what is known as the Asian century”.

“PNG is but one part of this world; there is also Africa, Australia and Europe and the Asian century will become a dominant force,” he said.

“No matter how hard we as a country want to develop, the Asian century will continue to out-do us by a factor of 10.”
