THE Hela provincial assembly will meet in Tari today to elect an acting governor following the death of Anderson Agiru.
Deputy governor and acting assembly chairman Thomas Potape said yesterday the meeting would take place as scheduled.
“We are now preparing for the election of an acting governor,” he told The National from Tari.
“We will start the meeting at 9am (today).”
Potape had said on Sunday that Komo-Margarima MP Francis Potape and Koroba-Lake Kopiago MP Philip Undialu had put their hands up to be elected as acting governor when the assembly met.
“There will be no other agenda apart from the election of the acting governor of the province.”
He said teams from the Department of Provincial and Local Level Government and other government agencies would witness the meeting.
Acting secretary for Provincial and Local Level Government Dickson Guina said his department had given the green light for today’s provincial meeting.
