Assist people with capital

Letters

MY comments relate to a media article last week on the provincial intervention programme by the Morobe administration.
I thank Governor Ginson Saonu and the administrator Bart Ipambonj, deputy administrator social services Robin Bazinuc and programme coordinator Steven Bapi for the initiative.
The administrator is an experienced public servant and understands the peoples need.
I agree with the programme but they have to clarify the how it will benefit people in the nine districts, 33 LLGs and 565 wards.
About 85 per cent of the population are living in the rural areas and the Government should consider delivering services to the ward level.
Build infrastructure and support people in ward levels by funding small medium enterprises (SME) under the provincial government as most of the economic activities are done at the ward level.
SME is the only programme that would benefit people in the rural ward levels.
The Government has allocated K200 million in the National Development Bank (NDB) for SME.
Most of our people at the ward level do not understand how to get funding from NDB. The bank has its own policies and procedures on lending money to clients and rural people find it difficult to get funding to start small business activities.
I want the Morobe government to implement the provincial intervention programme by funding small businesses in the ward levels through the SME programme.
Assist them with capital so it can guarantee them to access funding from NDB.
The answer is putting K1 into the peoples pocket so they will not beg the Government for financial assistance for school fees, funeral expenses.
