Association gives K100,000 to centres

The Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea (MAPNG) donated K100,000 to two  learning centres in Port Moresby yesterday.
Donations of K50,000 each along with some food were presented to the Tembari Children’s Centre (TCC) at ATS and the Caritas Learning Centre (CLC) at 3-Mile.
Director of TCC Hayward Sagembo expressed gratitude for the association’s continued support for 10 years. Sr Senorina Kim from the CLC also expressed appreciation.
The donations were part  of MAPNG’s  annual donations to organisations.
Malaysian High Commissioner to PNG Datuk Jilid Kuminding, who accompanied the committee members during the cheque presentations, commended the association for its generous approach.
“Thank you very much to the Malaysian Association in PNG and to all those contributors to the fund that has being raised by the association,” he said.
Chairman of fundraising committee Ivan Lu said that the association was willing to continue its support as long as there were accountability and transparency with the funds provided.
The association raised a total of K930,000 through this year’s fundraising and money will be donated to 20 organisations.
Among other beneficiaries are the Port Moresby General Hospital, NCD Urban Clinics Missionaries of Charity, Moale Ministry, Church Four Square, City Mission, Hope Worldwide, Salvation Army, PNG Children’s Foundation, Cannosian Sisters, Talleres De Nazaret Training Centre, Sir Buri Kidu Heart Institution Inc, Papua New Guinea Kidney Foundation, St John Ambulance, Cheshire DisAbility Services, Operation Open Heart, Diabetes Association, Women’s Cancer Foundation and the Special Project Fund.
