THE Malaysian Association of PNG has donated K50,000 and 10 cartons of tinned fish to members of the Bushwara Foursquare Church in Port Moresby.
Association chairman Chew Pang Heng said the association was formed in 2001 to raise funds for charity.
He said the association identified churches and organisations which provided services to support people in need of help.
“Every year, (we) raise funds and provide donations to those charity organisations to support them help the unfortunate children and women who need help in settlements,” he said.
“We as Christians are sharing the love of God through donations to people in need. Love your neighbour as you love yourself. And this is what we can do to help the community.”
The chairman of the association’s fundraising committee, Ivan Lu, said many organisations which provided such services to the community were not funded by the Government.
He said they supported such organisations because they wanted to see changes in people’s lives. The association is supporting 29 organisations this year in their programmes.
Pastor Magi Goro said the money would fund the children feeding ministry, the elementary education for children and the women’s sewing skills training.
Goro said the Malaysian Association had shown great interest in helping the church to support the “feeding of 80 to 100 children every Saturday, running free sewing skills training for women and providing free education to settlement kids by voluntary teachers”.
