Association grateful for PM’s help
The National, Thursday February 12th, 2015
PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill has committed K200,000 to the Kairuku Amateur Boxing Association for its development programme.
O’Neill took the undertaking after the association’s team returned from the national trials in Goroka last week.
O’Neill helped the team of 18 boxers and officials return after a successful tournament from January 27-30.
The district-based association got backing from local Kairuku-Hiri MP Peter Isoaimo and former member Paru Ahi.
KABA president Andrew Magaiva thanked O’Neill for his help, saying it had meant a lot to the village-based fighters and officials who were committed to the sport but lacked financial backing.
“We cannot thank our Prime Minister enough. His help makes all our efforts worthwhile,” Magaiva said.
