FORTY-nine bags of blood were collected from the donation drive carried out by the PNG Kidney Foundation and Filipino Association of PNG (FAPNG) at the weekend at the Club House Gordon in Port Moresby.

The 49 bags were from the qualified blood donors out of the 63 participants that registered. FAPNG said in a statement: ‘’As the first expatriate association here in Papua New Guinea, the association conducted this event and it was a success and will continue to serve and encourage other expatriate associations to do the same.

“The blood donation activity is a noble community service and remarks the importance of blood to save lives as our slogan says, My Blood, Your Life.”

The association said it was committed to conduct blood donations on a quarterly basis.

“Indeed, we are really thankful for our volunteers who have tirelessly rendered their services and time and our sponsors who make it happened. And most importantly we greatly thank all the donors who were kind enough to donate their blood to save lives.”

The blood donation campaign was organised by the Filipino association and the PNG Kidney Fundation in association with the National Department of Health blood transfusion service.
