TEN members of the Mugmamp Forest Association in Anglimp district, Jiwaka, received K1000 each to start their businesses.

The money came from the K2 million that Anglimp-South Waghi MP Komun Joe Koim invested in the National Development Bank to help rural people in his electorate get involved in business. Koim registered 100 associations in every council ward in his electorate and gave them K10,000 each this year.

Cheques were presented to them by the association’s chairman  Issack Noki at Mapi village last Saturday. Noki said it was an opportunity for people to venture into small businesses. “It is a great opportunity for people to earn a decent living with the opportunity being provided,” he said.

Noki said people would repay the money within two months to the association.

“It is your responsibility to repay the money on time.

“If you take ownership of what is being given, you will pave the way for more similar good things to come. You must know that this is the beginning point.” Noki told the people.

He urged the entrepreneurs not to misuse the money but put it to good use.

“If you plan your money carefully and make good use of it then you can prosper. Start with small ways now. The future of the association depends entirely on the first recipients. If you abuse the money, the association will be at stake and the 7000 people in the area would be affected,’’ Noki said.
