Association to develop registration standards

THE Koupa Soccer Association will no longer entertain over-the-phone registrations from associate and provisional members in Central, says its president Morea Vavine.
He said he wanted to introduce strict compliance for all their associate members so they could benefit from Papua New Guinea Football Association-sanctioned events or programmes.
Vavine said he would work with PNGFA to come up with a standard template for associate or provisional member associations to register.
“I am doing this to comply with PNGFA requirements for associate and provisional membership,” he said.
Koupa is the only PNGFA member association in Central, so all soccer competitions in the province need to affiliate under it in order to qualify for PNGFA events and programmes.
Except for Lae and Port Moresby, all associations in PNG must comply with the sport’s national governing body’s “one province, one soccer association” policy.
Vavine said the Besta Cup was a PNGFA-sanctioned tournament for associate members only.
He said all soccer associations in Central must affiliate under Koupa to qualify for the Besta Cup and benefit from referee and coaching courses.
