THE Indonesian Government Employees’ Wives Association visited Vabukori village in Port Moresby on Saturday to create awareness on food security.
Ella Andriana said Indonesia and Papua New Guinea were blessed with rich biodiversity of plants and herbs.
“Some of those plants are probably very familiar but also there are some that remain neglected as a source of alternative foods,” she said.
“This activity today is part of the Indonesian embassy’s commitment to support the programme of the Government of Papua New Guinea in order to promote the sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially relating to the second point of the SDGs in order to achieve food security and improve nutrition.
“I believe by promoting the local food ingredients, we can motivate people to explore and create dishes which are more affordable and healthier as well.”
Andriana said the Covid-19 was a global challenge and it not only threatened health but also affected almost every part of life.
