ATM fraud warning

The National Letters

THIS is to warn unsuspecting individuals that there are professional fraudsters lurking around ATM machines, like the BSP one at 4-Mile TST Supermarket in Port Moresby. My wife had the most unfortunate experience of being conned by one of these guys on Saturday (June 16).
Dressed in reflecting yellow and green jacket, he was directing customers so when my wife inserted her Westpac card, he swiftly distracted her and inserted his own Westpac card into the slot, at the same time removed our card and asked her to continue.
Naturally our pin number did not work so we drove away to a Westpac ATM only to discover the card she brought back was not ours.
Needless to say, after 30-45 minutes my balance was depleted.
So be careful and alert.
