Audit funds for SME

Letters

THERE appears to be some disturbing accounts on alleged abuses of K20 million set aside for administrative costs associated with awareness, monitoring and evaluation of the K180 million small to medium enterprise (SME) funds parked through the two banks Bank South Pacific and National Development Bank under the Marape Government’s intervention programme.
There needs to be an audit to confirm if funds were not misapplied for other purposes such as purchasing of new department vehicles and random pledges of free cash donations made and given to various select SME groups.
If that is so, it defeats the whole purpose of others going through the hard yards to obtain SME loans while others enjoy free handouts.
Where is fairness and transparency in the SME intervention programme?
