A GROUP of Goroka businessmen have called for the former hospital board to allow the books of the hospital to be audited.

The businessmen, led by coffee buyer Henry Ame, said only a proper audit or investigation would set the record straight with the operations of the hospital.

They called for the audit after the former board led by David Wong and Ben Haili and the management under Dr Joe Appa denied claims by the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill that K30 million was unaccounted for in 2010.

During a recent visit to Goroka, O’Neill challenged the former board and management to reveal how they had spent the K30 million which the Government had given to the hospital over a three-year period.

Wong, the board and Appa said they had never received the K30 million promised by O’Neill.

Ame and the businessmen said a proper audit could reveal the truth.
