AusAID to roll out K20mil school projects

SCHOOL projects worth K20 million will be rolled out soon in East New Britain province under the AusAID school project.
Melkior local level government president Francis Bugajim and PNG Forest Products representative Stuart Honey confirmed this recently.
The school projects have been contracted to PNG Forest Products Ltd and are expected to start soon when materials reach the province from Lae, Morobe province.
Honey said the project would cover 10 areas in Kokopo, Gazelle, Rabaul and Pomio districts.
The areas are Esletana, Uvol and Bain in Pomio district, Milmila in Duke of York LLG and Bitapaka LLG in Kokopo district, Waterhouse Gelagela in Rabaul district, Riet and Warongoi in Sinivit LLG, Vunapalading in Central Gazelle district and Pata, located near Ulamona.
Honey said the project was expected to be completed by the end of July.
He said the shipment of materials from Lae was due in a fortnight and materials would take a month to be delivered to all 10 areas.
The school project will cover new classrooms and teachers houses in all the areas.
Honey urged people living in the 10 identified schools to cooperate with them and provide labour.
He said there would be supervisors from PNG Forest
Products Ltd on site to supervise locals.
