Aussie doctor happy with new emergency department hospital’s emergency dept

AN doctor from Australia says the newly-upgraded emergency department at Mt Hagen General Hospital has the right ingredients to be able to cater for emergencies.
Dr Colin Banks, an emergency doctor from Townsville Hospital in North Queensland, said the emergency department was well designed.
He was excited to see clinical staff handling emergency cases in a professional manner.
Banks was at Mt Hagen General Hospital at the invitation of the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority for him to review the new emergency setup, contribute ideas and support clinicians in their work. He said that he has been visiting emergency departments in PNG for the past nine years.
Banks has supported and trained staff who worked at the emergency ward to ensure that all protocols of emergency were followed.
He was accompanied by Dr Rob Mitchell, of Cairns Hospital.
Dr Rob spent a day helping set up the triage in the emergency department.
Banks spent three days at the hospital from July 23-26 where he provided mentorship and training for clinical staff and discussed the layout of the building.
