Aussie faces false pretence charge

 AN Australian national has been charged with allegedly receiving over K7,000 under false pretence from a local businessman in Goroka, Eastern Highlands.

John Sydney Lacey, 63, from Sydney was charged with allegedly obtaining K7,065.88 from Kum Feka of Feka Builders, a Goroka-based building construction company with the intent to defraud him.

The offence was allegedly committed on March 29 and May 14 last year.

Lacey was arrested on Aug 10, 2013, and appeared before the Goroka District Court for mention on Jan 24.  

The case was first adjourned to Feb 20 and later to Mar 17.
