AUSTRALIAN country musician John Williamson will be a special guest at celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the Kokoda campaign.
Wlliamson, who arrived yesterday with his wife Margaret Doyle, were welcomed by Australian High Commissioner to PNG Ian Kermish.
Williamson is a country music singer and song writer whose music is mostly influenced by life in rural Australia.
He will be performing at the dawn service at the Bomana War Cemetery outside Port Moresby to remember the fallen Australian soldiers during the World War II.
He will also be special guest at the commemorative dinner at the National Parliament’s state dining room on Saturday.
Williamson and his wife will be in PNG for six days and will go to Rabaul where they will visit war memorial sites.
The singer has released more than 32 albums, 10 videos, five DVDs and two books.
Williamson has received more than 23 Golden Guitar awards for his music and has won two ARIA Music Awards for Best Australian country record. e has also featured in a number of television series in Australia.
