Aussie TV show to be aired on EMTV
The National, Tuesday March 1st, 2016
AUSTRALIAN breakfast TV show Sunrise will begin on EMTV today.
EMTV said in a statement yesterday that viewers would be able to see Australia’s popular breakfast television programme on free-to-air TV for the first time in Papua New Guinea.
The Sunrise announcement is the first of many things to come from EMTV this year, with the station, signing a content exchange agreement between the two broadcasters.
“The Seven Network is the second most-watched Australian commercial free-to-air network, and is currently owned by Seven West Media Limited,” EMTV said.
Sunrise is co-hosted by David ‘Kochie’ Koch, one of Australia’s leading business and finance commentators and Samantha Armytage, an experienced career broadcast journalist with Channel Seven.
Media Niugini Limited chief executive officer Bhanu Sud said this addition to EMTV’s morning programme line-up would boost EMTV’s growing number of viewers and give Channel Seven close to six million viewers of their most popular programme.
“This is the start of many exciting things to come for EMTV, particularly in terms of our free-to-air content in 2016,” Sud said.
“Sunrise is the first big announcement for us and we’re thrilled to give Papua New Guineans the opportunity to watch Australia’s most popular breakfast television show.
“There is a large following for Sunrise in PNG through its pay-per-view cable market, but this agreement will see a legitimate push for quality content that isn’t being illegally shared to unsuspecting PNG viewers.” The Telegraph
