Penrith prop Petero Civoniceva has been named captain of the Australian prime minister’s XIII to take on their PNG counterparts in Port Moresby later this month.
The match will be the Queensland State of Origin star’s first since injuring his toe in the second match of this year’s series against NSW.
Civoniceva is one of three Test incumbents in the team, along with halfback Johnathan Thurston and Cronulla enforcer Paul Gallen.
Canberra rookie Josh Dugan has been named at fullback for the team after his breakthrough 2009 NRL season, while Newcastle veteran Adam MacDougall is on the interchange bench.
Dugan is one of five Raiders in the team, making them the best represented NRL club, while Civoniceva is one of four Panthers named.
The Australian prime Minister’s XIII play the Kumuls on Sept 27.
