NINETEEN police officers are being trained in Port Moresby to use of jet skis for security during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit.
According to the police media unit, the water police officers were being trained by Australian Maritime experts from the New South Wales maritime division.
“The jet skis will be used for general safety and policing patrols, as well as providing security searches under shipping wharves and vessel interception during Apec-related events,” says Inspector Glenn Finniss, the maritime adviser under the Papua New Guinea–Australia Policing Partnership (PNG-APP) programme.
The course is for three weeks.
The jet skis were supplied through the PNG-APP programme.
